Albert Spalding Benoist
Albert Spalding Benoist was born in Monmouth Beach and still makes his
home there. His father was a world class musician and Albert traveled with
his father and mother in his early life. After graduating from high school
he attended Columbia College and received his BA in 1940. Soon after,
WWII intervened and he was drafted into the Infantry, then to the Signal
Corps and finally ASTP at Harvard. He returned to Columbia and received
his degree in Architecture in 1948. After working with New York City
architects to gather experience and teaching at Pratt Institute, he formed
a successful  Architectural/Engineering firm in northern. New Jersey. After
forty years of practice his firm merged with a local firm and after a few
years he retired . He was now free to pursue other interests among which
were painting, illustrating and writing as well as involvement with an
orchestra,  ballet and opera. companies. He is also actively involved with  
organizations in his home town. He is deeply concerned with the current
state of our world. Because of this, his varied background and wide
ranging interest in technology he has become a futurist which has formed
the base for his present writings.
